For years I was the expert of my own patterns. I knew the maps inside out, from procedure to self-help manuals, every turn, every warning sign, and they still led me back into the same holes.

It took me a long time to understand why. And longer to find what actually changes it.

I'm not here to hand you more goals. (Pressure's addictive too. I know that one from the inside.) The work is quieter: less about chasing the next thing, more about turning toward what makes it all feel like pressure in the first place. And here's the part most people miss. If you can already feel that mechanism working, you're halfway home.

I'm Jonny Hill. I work with people one-to-one, in person on the Kāpiti Coast and online, drawing on coaching, meditation, and parts-work to get beneath the patterns that keep repeating. Not surface fixes. The kind of change that actually holds.

How we work together

Each of these does something the others can't. Coaching builds direction, and a solid place to move from. Parts-work goes underneath, to the patterns that don't shift through insight alone. And a steady meditation practice changes something deeper again: it grounds you in the awareness all of it arises from. I'll use whatever genuinely helps. The test is whether it moves something real in you, not whether it fits a method.

Appreciative Coaching

Where it fits, we begin from what's already working. Rather than cataloguing what's wrong, appreciative coaching helps you find your genuine strengths and build toward where you want to go from a grounded place. Change tends to come more easily when you start from what's already working.

Parts-Work (IFS-Informed)

Most stuck patterns are run by parts of us that formed for good reasons: protection, survival, coping. Drawing on Internal Family Systems principles, we meet these parts with curiosity rather than judgement, and work out what they're protecting and what they need.

Meditation Guidance (TMI)

This isn't mindfulness as stress management. A committed sitting practice builds meta-awareness, the capacity to watch your own experience without being swept into it. That quality of attention is what lets parts-work reach places conversation alone can't. For those drawn to meditation as a path in its own right, I also offer structured one-to-one TMI guidance, separate from coaching.

What a session looks like

01

Check-in & focus

Co-create what this session is for.

02

Strengths mapping

Find what's already working. Build from there.

03

Parts exploration

Meet the part creating resistance. Understand its role.

04

Integration & close

Consolidate the insight. Agree on a next step.

Sessions & pricing

An introductory
rate, while I'm
starting out.

I'm just establishing this practice, so for now I'm offering sessions at half my standard rate. It keeps the work accessible, and it means I get to work with people properly while I find my feet. Sessions run 60–90 minutes.

Introductory rate

If you're able to pay

$65NZD / session, while I'm starting out

A limited number of these are open while I build the practice. Enough to keep the work sustainable, low enough to keep it accessible.

Koha

If that's not doable right now

Kohapay what you can, or what feels right

If $65 isn't manageable, give what you can. No explanation needed, just say so when you get in touch. I would genuinely rather work with you than have money be the thing in the way.

Where this is heading: as the practice grows, the rate will settle at around ~$130. I'm also working toward a pay-it-forward structure, where people who can contribute more help fund low-cost and koha sessions for those who need them. The introductory rate is the first step toward that.

Who I am

There's more available than most people know.

For a long time I was convinced everyone else had found something I hadn't. Some direction, some sense of knowing what life was actually for. On the outside I was holding down a well-paid job. On the inside, barely holding together. Addicted, anxious, quietly depressed. Underneath all of it was a deeper knowing, a kind of yearning, that there had to be more than this. More than the 9-to-5. More than just getting through the week.

Meditation was the first thing that pointed somewhere worth going. I taught myself and practised seriously for years. But there was a whole layer I couldn't reach. A numbness, a tension held so deep I wasn't even aware of it. What other approaches gave me, working somatically and with parts, wasn't a change in the meditation. It was the ability to feel again. And once that came back, what had once felt like white water, all current and noise, barely keeping your head above, started to open into something else. Something more like a dance of sensation.

I held back from offering this work for a long time. It didn't feel right until I'd walked far enough to know where the path goes, and far enough to know it keeps going. I'm continuing that now through formal counselling training, alongside the contemplative work that started it all. What I want for the people who come here is the kind of freedom that was always just there, waiting. The kind that was always closer than it seemed.

Coaching

Appreciative & Contemplative Coaching

A strengths-based approach that begins from what's already working and builds toward where you want to go, at whatever depth the moment calls for.

Meditation

Certified TMI Teacher

Certified teacher of The Mind Illuminated, a structured ten-stage approach to building sustained attention and embodied awareness. Offered both within coaching and as a standalone practice.

Counselling Training

Postgraduate Counselling Coursework

Has completed postgraduate counselling coursework and is continuing toward a counselling qualification.

Approach

Parts-Work & Pattern Change

Draws on Internal Family Systems principles and coherence-informed approaches (including memory reconsolidation) to meet stuck patterns with curiosity, and work where change actually takes hold, beneath insight alone.

A note on scope

This work is coaching, not therapy or clinical treatment. It is non-diagnostic and does not replace licensed psychiatric or psychological care. I am continuing my training toward a counselling qualification, and as part of good practice, client work is reflected on within appropriate professional supervision. If something arises that falls outside the scope of coaching, I'll recommend a suitable referral. Operated within the boundaries of the HPCA Act 2003.

Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”
